PRC exempted while applying for Assam Police Posts: Assam Cabinet Decision

The Assam Government in a Cabinet Meeting held on 24-12-2021 has decided to provide relief to the thousands of aspiring and unemployed youths who are vying to get recruited in various posts of Assam Police Recruitment 2022 by not making Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC) mandatory at the time of applying or submitting online applications.

It may be mentioned that while applying for Assam Police posts in SLPRB website, candidates were asked to provide PRC mandatorily as a result of which thousands of applicants faced hurdle and could not submit their applications.

This led to the applicants thronging the offices of Deputy Commissioners and Circle Officers in all districts of Assam seeking PRCs. Several applicants demanded that PRC should not be made mandatory as getting a PRC is a herculean task.

Keeping this in mind to provide succour to the thousands of youths of Assam, the Cabinet meeting of Assam led by Hon'ble Chief Minister of Assam Himanta Biswa Sarma decided to not make the PRC submission mandatory at the time of applying for Assam Police Recruitment 2022. However, after the declaration of the result, the selected candidates should mandatorily submit PRCs.

The STs, SCs and OBCs are exempted from providing PRCs at all level of selection process of Assam Police recruitment 2022.

The DGP of Assam Police too has informed this thorough his Facebook post.
