ARBAS 2020: No laptops this year for the students

The Education Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarna on Saturday at a  press meet in Guwahati announced that the Govt. of Assam shall provide Rs. 20,000/- each to star mark holders in HSLC 2020 instead of Laptops under Anundoram Barooah Award Scheme 2020.

It may be mentioned that earlier laptops were provided under Anundoram Barooah Award Scheme each year to meritorious students who secure 75% and above marks in HSLC examination but, this year due to the ongoing situation in the whole world it became difficult to provide laptops to the students. So the Govt. of Assam decided to provide financial incentive to the students in lieu of laptops this year.

"The amount shall be transferred to the students' bank account on September 12 or 13", said Sarma.

This year around 16,900 students passed HSLC Examination with Star marks.
