Last date for Aadhar and Ration card linkage

The deadline for linking Aadhar with ration card has been over but recently according to an official notification issued by the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution it has been said that the Government has extended the timeline given to all States/ UTs to complete the seeding of Aadhaar numbers with all ration cards/ beneficiaries till 30-09-2020. This means that people have got more time for linking aadhar and ration card.

Don't worry if you don't have the Aadhar or if you can't link Aadhar with your ration card before 30-09-2020, the government has clarified the following points:

• Genuine beneficiaries or households will not be denied from the entitled quota of food grains
• The names/ration cards will not be deleted/canceled only on the ground of not possessing an Aadhaar number.
• Foodgrains under NFSA will not be denied due to the failure of biometric/ Aadhaar authentication of the beneficiary.

How Aadhar and Ration card be linked? What are its ways?

You can link your Aadhar and ration card by following the offline method. According to the official website of UIDAI, to link aadhar and ration card, the beneficiaries should submit a photocopy of the Aadhaar with a copy of ration card to their respective PDS shops. 

The PDS shops may ask the beneficiaries to place a finger on a sensor to authenticate to check that the beneficiary and his/her Aadhaar number are matched. This will make Aadhar and ration card linkage updated.
