The Dy. Director, WPT & BC, Assam, Rukmini Nagar, Guwahati-6 has published a notification informing all the concerned that applications for Pre-Matric and Post-Matric scholarships for students belonging to Scheduled Tribes (ST) and Other Backward Classes (OBC) are invited for the year 2018-19 through National Scholarship Portal (NSP) www.scholarships.gov.in as per decision taken by the Government of Assam. Proposal will be entertained through online portal only for students studying in Govt./ Govt aided/ Govt.recognized/ Madhyamik/ Middle/ PrimarySchool/ University/ Higher Secondary/ Colleges including Medical/ Technical Institutions etc.

The details are given below:

1. Name of the Scheme:  POST-MATRIC SCHOLARSHIP TO ST STUDENTS (90:10 /CENTRAL: STATE SHARE) 

Qualification: FROM CLASS XI TO HIGHER STUDIES INCLUDING M.PHIL/ PH.D/ IIT/ POLYTECHNIC/ VOCATIONAL COURSES, ETC.

Family Income: 2.50 LAKH OR BELOW

2. Name of the Scheme:  POST-MATRIC SCHOLARSHIP TO OBC STUDENTS (90:10 /CENTRAL: STATE SHARE) 

Qualification: FROM CLASS XI TO HIGHER STUDIES INCLUDING M.PHIL/ PH.D/ IIT/ POLYTECHNIC/ VOCATIONAL COURSES, ETC.

Family Income: 1.50 LAKH OR BELOW

3. Name of the Scheme:  PRE-MATRIC SCHOLARSHIP TO ST STUDENTS (90:10 /CENTRAL: STATE SHARE) 

Qualification: STUDYING IN  CLASS IX & X

Family Income: 2.00 LAKH OR BELOW

4. Name of the Scheme:  PRE-MATRIC SCHOLARSHIP TO ST STUDENTS (100% GOVT. OF ASSAM) 

Qualification: STUDYING IN  CLASS I TO VIII

Family Income: 0.50 LAKH OR BELOW

5. Name of the Scheme:  PRE-MATRIC SCHOLARSHIP TO OBC STUDENTS (50:50 /CENTRAL: STATE SHARE) 

Qualification: STUDYING IN  CLASS I TO X

Family Income: 2.50 LAKH OR BELOW

Who can Apply: All eligible students belonging to ST and OBC communities studying in various educational institutions in the State of Assam and outside the State of Assam can apply for Scholarship for the year 2018-19 through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) www.scholarships.gov.in

Last Date for Applying:  20-01-2019 positively. (There shall be no extension of time under any circumstances).

Verification Process: Verification of online applications will be conducted at two levels: (1) Institution (schools/colleges/ etc.) and (2) State (Directorate). The last date for completion of verification of online applications at the Institution level is 10-02-2019 and for State level is 28-02-2019.

How to Apply: Guidelines and FAQs are uploaded on the NSP which may be consulted by applicants and institutions.

1. The scholars have to first register on NSP.

2. During registration, they are required to upload bank passbook and after successful registration, they are given application id and password on their registered mobile number.

3. At the time of online application, the students will be required to upload two mandatory documents, namely, (1) Income Certificate and (2) Caste Certificate. All scholars (both fresh and renewal applicants) applying on NSP will use the NEW USER tab (and not RENEWAL TAB) as Assam is using the portal for the first time. The “Renewal” tab will be functional only from the next financial year.
